Lightweight steel structures at the university

For over 25 years, Unic Rotarex® has been a leader in the lightweight steel structures industry. One of the factors that differentiated us is the collaboration with university professors from the University of Construction in Iasi. At the heart of this collaboration is a shared passion for innovation and a commitment to educating the next generation of engineers and architects.

At the Faculty of Iasi there is a seismic testing platform, and, as you already know, we took the opportunity to demonstrate the resistance of lightweight steel structures by testing a structure for a house on this platform. The result was not only a proof of the solidity of the structures we produced, but also a valuable learning experience for both students and teachers.

The decision to subject one of the Unic Rotarex® lightweight steel structures to rigorous seismic testing produced remarkable results, proving once again that our structures are suitable even in earthquake-prone areas. The collaboration paid off when university professors documented the results of the seismic testing. A scientific paper has been produced, focusing on the resistance of light metal structures to earthquakes.

The testing done on the structures we produced did not stop at the scientific article. The tested structure has remained at the university, where it continues to be a valuable educational tool. Students have the opportunity to study the structure up close, gaining practical knowledge about the world of lightweight steel structures. This hands-on experience is invaluable for future engineers and architects, and we are glad to already be part of the future of construction.
